Our History

Bowen Childcare & Early Education was founded in 1978, known initially as Bowen & District Childcare. We originally started at the Esplanade in Queens Beach, where we operated for 10 years. After 10 years, we were granted a lease by Council to build a new Childcare Centre at 65 Williams Street, officially re-opening on August 13, 1988.

In January of 1998, an extension was added to the back of the centre to accommodate a new nursery. In 2017, we changed our name to Bowen Childcare & Early Education Centre to better reflect who we are and what we offer. We are a not-for-profit daycare centre, led by a team of educators. We are a not-for-profit long daycare centre, run by a Management Committee made up of parent volunteers. We have a great team of highly qualified, and well experienced educators, who provide high quality educational programs for the children in their care

Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for your children where they can develop their self-esteem, trust in others, love for diversity and overall well-being. Our education programs are designed to help your children learn group skills, adaptation skills, and problem-solving skills. We also have programs for newborns, infants and toddlers. We work with children of all ages, helping them move forward and develop the skills necessary to be successful.
